According to statistics, more than 3 million tourists have visited Katakolon between 2006 and 2010, while 600,000 visited just Katakolon.
1,700,202 tourists visited Ancient Olympia, while 1,217,468 remained at Katakolon port and the surrounding seaside areas of Agios Andreas, Skafidia, Kourouta beach and the Mercouri Winery.
In 2010 Katakolon was the port of call for more than 800,000 passengers, while 450,000 of them visited ancient Olympia and 330,000 remained at the port.
165,000 tourists chose Katakolon as their sole destination in Greece. These tourists were brought to Katakolon by 380 cruise ships.

In the first six months of 2011, 107 cruise ships have called at Katakolon port, bringing more than 340,000 passengers.
190.000 of them visited Olympia and the rest of them remained at the port and its nearby sites.
68.500 passengers have chosen Katakolon as the only destination in Greece for 2011.
It is obvious that the tourist season for Katakolo port is getting increasingly stronger every year, while just for 2011 it is estimated that more than 1 million tourists will visit Katakolon and Ancient Olympia, boosting the local economy and of course the economy of Greece, during a difficult year for the country and its other industries.
