The meteorological station of Pyrgos recorded high winds at Katakolon during the first months of 2011.
According to the reports from the automated meteorological station of Athens at Pyrgos, there were winds of 133,6km/h at Katakolon port on January 28th, 2011.
In February 2011, there were two more storm incidents at Katakolon. On February 18th and 19th there were winds of 104,6km/h and 128,7km/h respectively.
Thankfully these two storm incidents happened before the tourist season had opened, and there were still no cruise ships calling at the port of Katakolon.
In 2010 there were just two similar incidents that took place in Katakolon, with winds stronger than 100km/h. They took place on October 19th with 111km/h and November 26th with 140km/h.
Since August 2009 when the meteo station was established at the port of Katakolon, the highest speed of winds recorded there was on November 10th 2009.
