An established Maltese travel agency encourages its clients and the tourists of the world to Discover the Mediterranean Culture with a cruise to Katakolon and the Greek islands.
The local agency has teamed up with two academics to provide cultural cruises that aim at combining the love for traveling with the urge to discover the culture of the Mediterranean Sea.
Cruising the Greek islands is an ideal way to get to know the Eastern Mediterranean culture because tourists have the chance to unwind on board, enjoying the numerous amenities and facilities of the cruise ship.
The main goal of the agency is to give tourists the chance to discover historic sites, artifacts and monuments and visit them at their birth place. After all, traveling is the best way to broaden one’s horizons and get to know the different and diverse cultures of Europe.
The first cultural cruise organized by the Maltese agency will be to Greece and its islands, since this is the cradle of the Western Civilization. The sites that will be visited are Rhodes, one of the main destinations of the Knights of St John from Malta, Athens, Epidaurus, Naflplion, Katakolon and Olympia, Mystras, Knossos and Phaestos in Crete, Santorini, Mykonos and Ephesus.
The historians and academics Professor Mario Buhagiar and Ms Charlene Vella MA will provide lecturing on the sites to be visited and their historical significance.
Professor Buhagiar is the Head and founder of the History of Art Department at the University of Malta and a Fellow of the Society of Antiquaries of London. He is considered one of the most important historians and academics in Malta, and a much respected author of studies while Ms Vella is a prospect PhD candidate at University of Warwick and Research Officer in the Department of History of Art at the University of Malta.
